ICIS is implementing a process of rolling consultation on all of its pricing methodologies. This consultation paper is part of this formal process and covers all of the ICIS primary price points included in the phthalic anhydride weekly publications.
The consultation asks both general questions about the suitability of the ICIS pricing methodology and questions addressing specific phthalic anhydride market issues.
There was one formal response to consultation GMC 25/18.

ICIS Decision
The respondent noted that phthalic anhydride monthly pricing is mostly formula-linked to OX. Spot pricing is set by major producers, with the bottom of the market set by ad hoc imports from the US and Asia.
ICIS will not be proposing any immediate changes to the methodology of the phthalic anhydride report. Any decision to change this methodology will be communicated to subscribers using the usual channels and with the usual notice period.
ICIS continues to welcome any feedback on its methodology outside of the formal consultation process.
