Two explosions at SNF Group’s factory at Andrezieux injured four employeesLONDON (ICIS news)–A Health and Safety Committee (CHSCT) will on Tuesday begin investigating two explosions at SNF Group’s factory at Andrezieux, which injured four employees on Monday night, said the president of the water-soluble polymer producer.

The explosions began when an operator mixed incompatible catalysts, Rene Pich said.

Two operators suffered injuries, while an engineer and a technician who had come to neutralise the residues of the mixture were injured by a second explosion.

“The incompatibility of the products is well known and specific training on these products with a video presenting the risks is given to every employee concerned,” Pich said.

“There was no damage to the installation or to the environment,” he added.

“We are in permanent contact with the family of the injured employees and with the hospital and we will communicate news of their health as soon as we get it,” Pich said.
