Maire Tecnimont bags contract to build Indian Oil’s Paradip PX plant

SINGAPORE (ICIS)–Italian engineering firm Maire Tecnimont on Monday said that a consortium of its subsidiaries was awarded a contract to build Indian Oil Corp’s (IOC) new 800,000 tonne/year paraxylene (PX) plant in Paradip.

The engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) lump sum contract is valued at about $450m, the Italian company said in a statement.

IOC’s PX plant is expected to achieve mechanical completion in about 33 months.

PX produced at the plant will be fed to the adjacent purified terephthalic acid (PTA) at the Paradip site in Odisha state.

The Maire Tecnimont consortium executing the contract consists of its subsidiaries Tecnimont SpA and India-based Technimont Private Ltd.
