HOUSTON (ICIS)–Motiva of the US will distribute S-Oil’s Group III base oils in North America, Motiva announced on Thursday.
Motiva will take over all North American marketing, sales and distribution of the Group III products produced by S-Oil in South Korea, according to the long-term supply agreement.
Motiva will market the S-Oil products under the aramcoULTRA brand name.
Phillips 66 had been the exclusive distributor of Ultra-S in North America.
Motiva and S-Oil are both Saudi Aramco subsidiaries.
“The agreement solidifies Motiva as the face of Aramco base oils sales in the Americas, advancing a brand strategy that all Aramco-produced base oils are marketed exclusively by affiliates,” Motiva base oils director Colleen Murphy-Smith said.
“The deal enhances Motiva’s existing product portfolio and allows us to offer our customers even greater value.”
Base oils are used to produce finished lubes and greases for automobiles and other machinery.
Major US producers include Motiva, Chevron, Excel Paralubes and ExxonMobil.
