HOUSTON (ICIS)–US Corteva Agriscience announced it has opened a new Center for Seed Applied Technologies (CSAT) in southwest France, with the goal to help European farmers get their crops off to the best possible start and thereby achieve a successful harvest.

The new CSAT will be in Aussonne and will focus on service development, with strong scientific investment that will be part of new seed treatment solutions to help farmers meet the challenges of a changing agricultural sector.

The French CSAT is the first for Corteva in Europe and its third worldwide. As with its other sites this CSAT will act as a laboratory, testing centre and seed treatment plant, with rigorous processes in place for the discovery, formulation and real-world testing of seed applied technologies.

Corteva said this process enables seed treatments to protect and perform to solve on-farm challenges and delivering value for growers as seed treatments are vital for protecting young plants from pests and disease and this benefit ultimately improves productivity.

The CSAT will also work with business collaborators to provide services and tests to help improve the quality of seed treatments.

“The opening of the first CSAT in Europe is good news for innovation and will help provide farmers with the tools they need for more sustainable food production,” said Igor Teslenko, Corteva Agriscience president, Europe.

“Because Seed Applied Technologies involve treating the seed rather than applying crop protection solutions in the field, they can help lower the environmental footprint of agriculture.”

Corteva Agriscience currently offers a suite of solutions, which involve the seed having insecticide and fungicide treatment as well as seed applied growth nutrition.
