Linde, SLB to work on carbon capture and sequestration projects for ammonia and hydrogen

HOUSTON (ICIS)–Gas producer Linde and technology company SLB announced they have entered into a collaboration on carbon capture, utilisation and sequestration (CCUS) projects to accelerate decarbonisation solutions with a focus on ammonia and hydrogen production.

The firms said this collaboration will combine decades of experience in carbon dioxide (CO2) capture and sequestration, bring together innovative technology portfolios as well as project development and execution expertise.

CO2 is found or produced in many industrial and energy applications and this collaboration will target ammonia and hydrogen production where CO2 is a by-product, and in natural gas processing.

Linde noted that CCUS abates the emissions from these energy-intensive industries, creating new low-carbon energy sources and products.

With SLB, we are able to offer technology-driven solutions from execution of complex EPC projects through to ensuring reliable and safe long-term storage,” said Sanjiv Lamba, Linde CEO.

Linde and SLB said they have been working on decarbonisation opportunities for over a year already and see the collaboration as expanding customer reach and maximising value for all stakeholders.
