UP train derails in US outside of Houston; investigation ongoing

HOUSTON (ICIS)–A Union Pacific train collided with a tractor trailer about 07:30 local time in Splendora, Texas, north of Houston, causing the derailment of about 20 cars, a railroad spokesperson said.
The driver of the truck died at the scene, according to the Splendora Police Department (SPD).
The UP spokesperson said none of the train crew were injured.
Officials did not share what was being carried in the railcars or how long it would take to clear the tracks.
Pictures of the accident scene posted to SPD social media showed multiple boxcars derailed.
UP said the incident remains under investigation.
