SINGAPORE (ICIS)–Super Typhoon Doksuri is heading to southeastern China, with landfall expected on 28 July along the coast of Fujian and Guangdong.

Heavy rainfall is expected in central and southern Sichuan, southern Chongqing, northern Guizhou, and northeastern Yunnan, the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) said on Wednesday.

Taiwan on Wednesday kept a land and sea warning in its southern region – including the port city of Kaohsiung – a petrochemical hub – as well as Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, Yilan, Hualien and Taitung – as the Hengchun peninsula is along the typhoon’s path.

Doksuri is packing winds of 205 kilometres per hour and is currently moving northwards in the waters between Taiwan and Philippines at 02:15 GMT, Taiwan’s Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said in its latest update.

Doksuri, the strongest so far in the tropical storm season in the region which runs from May to November, forced Philippine authorities on 25 July to evacuate thousands of people in coastal communities after it unleased strong winds and heavy rains on northern tip of the main island of Luzon.
