LONDON (ICIS)–European steel manufacturer thyssenkrupp Steel has launched a tender for the supply of hydrogen to its steel mill in Duisburg, eastern Germany.
The company announced the tender via a Linkedin post on 19 January.
thyssenkrupp is building a 1.2m tonne/year direct reduced iron plant with an integrated melting unit at its Duisburg works that will be able to run on hydrogen beginning operations in 2025, and will run on natural gas until sufficient volumes of hydrogen are available.
