LONDON (ICIS)–Inflation in the UK fell in March from the previous month, partly driven by a fall in motor fuel costs as energy prices eased, official data showed on Wednesday.

The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose by 2.6% in the 12 months to March 2025, down from 2.8% in the year to February, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.

Easing price rises for recreation and culture, and motor fuels were the main factors pushing inflation down.

The lower rate in March marks a two-month downward trend as UK consumer price rises also fell in February.

March inflation in the eurozone was also down month on month, to 2.2% from 2.3% in February, with lower energy prices the biggest driving factor, statistics agency Eurostat confirmed on Wednesday following flash data released on 1 April.
